This was actually worse than I anticipated, and I had very low expectations. This was my first time watching so it had no nostalgia factor working in it's favor. I did laugh and have fun with it, but I couldnt get past the awful writing, acting, and outdated CGI. Maybe next time I watch it (if there is one), I'll be sure to get drunk beforehand.
(Colin Farrell's still hot, even though they did him dirty making him bald with a bullseye on his damn forehead. But he clearly had fun with this film!!)
Feeling a pit in the center of my chest. This movie was incredible. Two minutes after finishing the movie, I'm feeling terrified (looking out the corner of my eye thinking I'll see someone), existentially scared (fear of never knowing when death will come, but that it WILL come for us all), and separately heartbroken for Alice and her family.
Beyond the story, which is phenomenal, the whole film functions perfectly as a documentary. If I didn't know it was fiction,…

The Damned premiering so soon on the heels of Egger's Nosferatu may be doing it a disservice by opening it up to such direct comparison, but that doesn't mean the criticism isn't warranted.
The look of the film is great, and it does a good job of creating a sense of dread. The cinematography is pretty ambitious and the on-location shooting makes for some beautiful, desolate, and eerie images. The first "sighting" of the draugr, I thought, was incredibly effective…
