Really wasn't expecting to love this as much as i did, those last 45mins completely blew me away. Such a compelling and real story that you cant help but immerse yourself into.
Also might have developed an unhealthy obsession with Ryan Gosling, but that happens to the best of us
A truly breathtaking film with a beautiful depiction of love and human relationships. Incredibly charming and compelling characters with unique stories that provide a brilliant sense of perspective on the themes of the film.
With all things stated above being enhanced by the wonderful cinematography and breathtaking techniques used to display the bustling streets of Hong Kong and exemplify the understated emotions driving each and every scene.
While I've put the film at a 4.5/5 for now, don't be surprised if it increases to a 5 in time. I have a feeling this one will stay with me for a while.
I went into this film blind, just as i had done with Chungking Express, another work of Wong Kar-Wai which i had seen previously. WKW continues to blow me away with his unrivalled use of colour and atmosphere within his cinematography which conveys the complicated emotions harboured by these characters.
