i’m a simple woman: i see wes anderson AND benedict cumberbatch, i click.
holding my horses for a second, it was brief (unexpected from wes) and painfully sweet (expected from wes). given dahl’s problematic spotlight, it’s a good reminder to separate a literary work from its creator. the whimsy of the almost-theater-like construction of the scenes and the witty storytelling confirm that anderson was the person to adapt dahl’s literature. hopefully i’ll get to learn cinematic theory better to do justice to his works.
