Caught this in bits and pieces over the years and finally saw it the whole way through tonight, holds up incredibly well even knowing the reveal going in. A very relentlessly yet well paced thriller that was among the last of it’s kind, where everything is done practically, *chef’s kiss*. Russell and Walsh are both going for it without fucking with the tone of the picture and it’s great.

The Monkey 2025
Finally saw “The Monkey” today, very good stuff, has one the most memorable tone setting openings I’ve seen in a long time, after that we’re off to the races with chills, spills, via a mechanical Monkey with ill will*. First two acts are very strong and fun, reaching a high water mark, the film plateaus during the 3rd act and stays there for a satisfactory and predictable conclusion.
3.5 stars out of 5.
*And yes I had to keep the rhyme going 😂
