Fujimoto might be one of the most mentally insane people ever and he is still able to write stories like this. Every single detail in this movie is so good down to the animation, directing, and references to other stories/Fujimoto’s own work.
“Then why do you draw, Fujino?” I get it now.
Very emotional movie. Unironically helped me understand myself more through Shoya and was one of the first movies where I started to see any type of story I interact with as more than just entertainment.
Visually beautiful and emotionally captivating. Seeing a relationship between Roz and Brightbill genuinely just pulls at the heart strings, because it’s such a beautiful story between a mother and her son. Even if she may not be his legitimate mother, she took up that role because over time she started to understand what love really is. Even if I may not relate entirely to the relationship, being able to witness it, thinking of what it could’ve been, pushed me to tears.
Pretty cool premise with some interesting moments. While it was funny at times, personally would’ve preferred something that didn’t want to make jokes as often, though this is to be expected of a movie that is horror/comedy. Also the analogy to not trust any rich people whatsoever, because they’re all terrible people (yes even Alex) was pretty dope. Also the idea that you can’t trust your family just because they’re your family is pretty good. Sometimes you just gotta believe in those other people you meet in life and not the ones who may have been hurting you since the beginning. Fuck rich people again.
