L'Avventura 1960
Antonioni does a great job of portraying a deep unease throughout L’Avventura. Using the high society backdrop to create a chance for almost cinematic phenomenology, he carefully digs into the distance between his characters, all while showing off some truly impressive visual work (highlighting the natural beauty of the area and bourgeois Italian life in a way that feels significantly more impactful than, say, the Talented Mr Ripley).

I like Wes Anderson. I like Bill Murray. I like Tilda Swinton. I like Frances McDormand. I like Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro, and Jason Schwartzman.
This however felt like just empty style. I know Anderson can make entertaining, well shot, light while thoughtful, fun movies, but the film felt like a poor imitation or a collage ripping elements from his earlier work with little thought other than potential commercial appeal.
