“I had to work, but they were out protesting. And it happened— they opened that counter. But I didn’t have the money to eat there either way.”

while slow, and a little video game cut scene-y at times (iykyk), this movie tells a deeply moving and important story of one of many ever-forgotten histories of Black people in this country. we are so little removed that our main character(s) are telling their own story of their own experience at these reform schools. brilliantly shot, ramell ross and jomo fray, i hope u have the BRIGHTEST future ahead of u

“Everybody dies. Some of us peacefully and in our sleep, and some of us… horribly. And that’s life.”

this movie was FUN and CAMPY!!! i wish it had a little more plot but i LIKED IT. maybe osgood is just better as a director than a writer. would love to see him paired w a strong writer.

“We’re on a fuckin’ Holocaust tour. If now is not the time and place to grieve, to open up, I don’t know what to tell you, man.”

this movie is… idk. a small part of a much larger story. idk if jesse eisenberg intentionally chooses the most annoying people to play, but he literally wrote this role, so maybe. with that said, im probably more of a david than a benji, so i guess thats why i found him so annoying— because he resonated. even tho i personally wouldn’t tell a table of virtual strangers my cousin’s deepest secrets

“Sometimes I cry so much I feel like I’m just gonna turn into drops.”

there is no denying the beauty, the pain, the romance, the yearning that this movie gives us. yearning to be loved, to be understood, to understand. yearning to be the biggest in the room and also invisible. it’s truly a remarkable, poignant film that everyone should watch once.

my favorite part was getting to talk to camille about this movie afterwards since it’s her fave :)
