I was glued to the screen the whole time despite not caring about Catholicism at all. Every performance was great here and carried its own weight, Fiennes definitely was the standout though. Striking sense of scale while also having the world feel so gritty and lived-in. I think some sequences linger on a bit too long and get too showy, but overall it’s fitting given that it follows people on the run. The sequence with them walking through the ceasefire is hauntingly beautiful.
