For a long time my favorite adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma was the 2009 miniseries, so I was very skeptical and highly critical the first time I watched this version. I never thought there would be a better version than the 2009 one, but I was wrong.

It was a very cute and enjoyable movie, but there were a lot of aspects of the world, that didn’t make sense. There also isn’t a clear solution to the main issues between the characters. I could easily see the arguments happening again because they were never properly resolved. The characters were funny but I was never sure of who I wanted to win.
As a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera, I found this movie very entertaining. It’s very over the top in terms of the plot, setting, costume etc which I found a little overwhelming at first. Also it is somehow every genre at once.

Everything about this film was sad, yet it was such a happy film. The character and set design was adorable, and it was funnier than I thought it would be.
I wished I could have watched this in the original French, but it was still very cute.
