The visuals are excellent — there’s a soft, pleasant touch, and the mood is expressed through colors very well. Costume design is also outstanding. I loved the outfits of every character. The music isn’t memorable or special, but I think it’s fine. The dialogue is too straightforward, too politically charged, and it strips away a lot of the magic. But the worst part is the casting and acting.
Snow White does look like Snow White, but she doesn’t know how…
The Monkey felt like the offspring of The Conjuring, Death Note, Final Destination, and Stranger Things. The movie is surprisingly funny, with absolutely hilarious murders and sharp, darkly comedic dialogue. It slows down a bit in the second half, with around 10 to 15 minutes that feel dull, but overall, it’s highly entertaining. A solid horror comedy, which we haven’t had in a while. Visually, it’s beautifully made with a nostalgic look. Definitely worth watching. 7.5/10
Nosferatu
is an intense gothic fairytale about a woman in love with a monster, kind of Phantom of the Opera or Notre Dame de Paris. People keep talking about crazy sex, but that’s fake. There are only two mild scenes, nothing shocking. Visually, it’s stunning, and the final scene actually made me cry, but I was never scared. I’ll give it 8/10 for beautiful shots, music, and atmosphere, but it's not scary as a horror. Also, Count Orlok didn’t say “You must bounce on it crazy style” 😭
