  Haunted Mansion 2023

  This movie was pretty much just whatever. Fans of the ride will enjoy seeing references to the ride’s setting, story, & lore, but other than that, there’s not much substance to latch onto. The over-reliance on CGI is also pretty disappointing considering how well the ride integrates practical effects & illusions. The cast is fun but their characters are not very developed and those that are are pretty boring. I will say that the setting of New Orleans made me homesick, but there was not enough of the city for my liking. Eddie Murphey’s version is better. 2/5

  Truly the MCU’s first horror film. I adored the experience of watching it, but I’m not sure I’m okay with a lot of the treatment of the characters. It leaves some of them in a strange spot. Fun to watch, but not sure what it means for the MCU as a whole.
