Something in the Dirt was a didactic, Lovecraftian tale typical of Moorhead and Benson's unconventional approach to low-budget yet captivating sci-fi/horror. As a huge fan of the pair of filmmakers and their other incredible films, particularly Resolution and The Endless, I was looking forward to Something in the Dirt as a redeeming step in the right direction after the somewhat less captivating Synchronic.
