this is not the “good for her” movie everyone made it out to seem.
this movie tried really hard to subvert the “revenge rape” trope and it somehow took all the wrong turns. this ultimately ended up feeling like a hallow, sanitized version of justice that is really, truly unattainable and inaccessible to most individuals impacted by gender- and power-based harm.
absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible. i spent half an hour sitting in complete silence processing my emotions.
edit: after writing this review (like literally 10 mins ago), i once again had a bout of cathartic sadness overtake me to the point of uncontrollable sobbing. i thought of “you dream in a language that I can't understand” and lost my shit all over again
