  Been catching my up on Scorsese and so far I’ve noticed how much he loves talking either cool guys or shucks and reversing their role by the the end of the film

  “Hello, my name is Rupert Pupkin. I take the bad things that happen to me and pretend they’re not happening.” Except in his material; The only time he’s honest with himself is during his routine. Because he’s won? We never hear the monologue until he’s made it; the King of Comedy! Just for a night, but long enough for Rupert to except the bad because now he’s experienced best.

  I don’t think Pupkin’s a bad guy. Just insufferable
