  i don’t understand how you can dislike this film …. it’s got the imagery, it’s got a complicated, inner-conflicted lead, it’s got tons of character dynamics and relationships to dissect. and somehow everything that happens in the second half just makes sense (although i need to google a lot of symbolisms). in sum, i love how luca guadagnino‘s mind works.

  indeed very wild, very chaotic, very messy, kind of psychotic, but really fun. a few too many sex scenes for me and since there’s like 10 different scenes with topless women in them, the common question of “is it really necessary?” pops up … i loved the bond between lula and sailor and the dry satiric lines every now and then. willem dafoe plays disturbing disturbingly well and what the hell was the mother’s problem???
