  What’s with this aspect ratio? Cinematography and aesthetics in general were overdone. Very overacted by everyone but Jacob Eloridi who I actually thought was believable. 

  This was the modern Theorem x Call Me By Your Name that we did not need at all. It begged for adoration from middle class white kids with letterboxd in a way that made me feel very pandered to 😭. 

  The writing seemed to try very hard to subvert… something? But what? The narrative touched on…

  The first time i watched this movie I really didn’t like it. I thought it was gross and harsh and dumb. I kept being badgered to appreciate it by people wiser than I and came to realize how important these qualities are in stories about the US (lol). 

  Side note, my initial reaction probably says a lot about how we're conditioned to feel about poor people. Sometimes a critical analysis of poverty in the US is a loud, silly, stream-of-consciousness…
