So uncomfortable throughout the entire movie. Not scary, just really uncomfortable. Great performances from Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani; both did great portrayals of people crazy enough to be legitimately unsettling; there's plenty of writing and screaming. The movie is very drawn out, which some may not like (aka my friends who watched this with me), but to me it adds to the atmosphere and the slow but sure building of dread. Everything down to the camera work added to this sense. You can really tell it was written by a man in the middle of a heart-shattering divorce.

It seems like Wes Anderson is running out of steam. While he has a solid filmography, this one fell a little short, being not as imaginitive in my opinion. As with his other works, he employs a very particular style of humor, colors, cinematography, music, and whimsical elements.
