Seeing your protagonist upset and out of his depth makes his super spy shit cooler and more impressive by contrast! The fish tank scene remains insanely cool, I have the world’s biggest crush on Kristin Scott Thomas, and even though I’m not old enough to remember it this movie somehow makes me nostalgic for fucking usenet groups. The cocky sleight of hand bullshit is probably the only time I’ve understood Tom Cruise’s sex appeal.
