While the perspective was refreshing and camerawork was largely impressive, this film could not stick to a tone that felt cohesive. There was this opportunity for such palpable tension that was delivered in such strange ways. Some chilling moments here and there but ultimately everything fell a bit flat.

Beauty and romance saturated in darkness that makes this feel like the most nightmarish fairy tale that I couldn’t get enough of. Visually incredible. Lily-Rose Depp embodied melancholy. The first few minutes set the tone, per usual with Robert Eggers. Just perfection.
