This is the first thing of dbz I ever saw ! very distinct memory of seeing this on tv and getting to the shot of shenron and feeling a supreme sense of wonder. I don't think I saw the rest of this outside of the TFS special until now
strumming the baseline to saiyan saga without vegeta is kind of a snoozer but the insanely bleak visuals whenever the tree is shown and nozawa being astounding at playing against herself…

wow. just. WOW
don't even know where to begin. just a profoundly incredible film. The death of childhood innocence. The irreversible act of leaving home for the first time and the deep sadness of never being able to return to that time before. Mythology as a doomed framework. there is so much to enjoy about this.
it's absolutely insane this was Maria Callas' only film appearance. She is haunting as the titular Colchian lamenter. I had several points watching this where the intensity of her gaze caused me to cry.
this is a special one. It's very intense but definitely worth it. Instant new favorite.
