Falls into the tropes of most biopics, but as a fan of Bob Dylan’s music, it’s hard not to be held captive by that time-tested formula. Monica Barbaro and Timmy are so INSANE in this.

The Brutalist 2024
Daniel Blumberg’s score is enormous; Lol Crawley’s vision on 70mm creates the most moving moments I’ve seen in ages—the Ouverture (boat) and (bus) sequences genuinely had me on the verge of tears not even 25 minutes in; Adrien Brody’s still got it.
The ambition is so deeply impressive, but I’m not sure the writing and directing are enough to meet those lofty heights, especially in Part 2 and Epilogue.

Poor Things 2023
It has its problems, but there’s so much in here that’s beautifully weird and sweet at its core. It’s infecting my thoughts constantly and making me feel like life is worth living despite it all.
