  It is a relief to see a film so thoroughly involved in the existential condition of a perfect 10. Her determined self-determination is shown clearly through composition and editing even when it isn’t being announced by her directly, which is a treat.

  My distaste for narration as a storytelling device is that it’s either too simple or too complicated: if you hear how someone talks to other people and it’s the same as how they talk to themselves, that’s boring.…

  I could never put my finger on why this isn't a perfect movie before, but today I was forced to use an English dub because my PLEX server is too weak to transcode anything, and I figured it out: it's really fucking chatty.

  But it has to be this way, because if you identify with the villain (and I do) then you have to believe that the problem is Oh Dae-su simply not shutting up. Not even disfigurement will stop…

  Much less appealing than I remember. Might have been a standout decent flick in Kidman's filmography, not that she's particularly lacking but there's a lot of driftwood too.

  The editing is immaculate, but that can't be what makes a film good for me anymore, apparently.

  Painfully lacking meaningful stakes. Nobody interesting lost their plot armor. Ashy color grade. Terrible reveals. None of the cast is really good enough for me to be surprised I didn't like this, but I do like everyone here a little less because of this film. Better Ghostface than the last picture, for a little while, but that was already an agonizingly low bar.

  How embarrassing it is to think you're paying tribute to classic horror and you land on looking like an even worse version of The Spirit (2008)! This is terrible along every line and the source material was already shit!

  The bar was so, SO low and here this idiot director trips over it three times and impaled his own head on it. Sexy characters are demoted to their blandest forms with uninspired casting and awful costuming, the black and white…
