3 stars is generous. i think i feel critical towards this movie bc it had such potential. i wanted a better glimpse at the experiences of everyone OTHER than gustavo. yes, it's a coming of age film, but it's a coming of age film set in castro's cuba where people were infecting themselves with HIV to escape terrible living conditions. more about that, less about gustavo and maria; less about gustavo and his punk band.
