In a pulpy and Sunday afternoon playing field - this movie is a lot of fun. It is a pretty bold subject matter - seemingly today it would be hard for this movie to exist in a Hollywood film. It isn’t too concerned about the moral issue - it has made its mind up about it from the beginning. But it’s more interested in the twist and turns. That’s a high.

A real mix bag for me. I loved like sight gags, the cinematography was incredible, the technical aspects all round was great. The problems are Mark ruffalo and Toni Collette’s performance and this sorta discombobulated climax that stops and starts. I would say the majority of the movie works before the ending.
The final moment actually pulls off a nice emotional beat too. So overall a mixed bag that I tend to be more positive on.Translated from by

Love this movie. I was incredibly stressed, disturbed but mostly emotionally invested. I wish it was longer however. To get more info about this world, or stay in some scenes longer.

The Holdovers 2023
So I just watched Downsizing the other day, and thought, “wow this is a great concept for a farce comedy that was taken in a character driven sincerity. That can make people upset”. I liked it but thought the material wasn’t the best for this director.
