  Very mixed about this one. Lots of great things going for it, but the acting was weak and Zanussi didn't manage to make it filmic throughout, despite all of the awesome camerawork. Memorable though, definitely. The story, the house, the production design and costumes... It's like they're from a great movie that's hiding beneath this one.

  So primal and visceral that I barely registered how uncontrolled and confusing its structure was. When the characters and the acting are this good, all of the other elements of filmmaking become secondary for me. That being said, Mackenzie's camerawork is also top notch, absolutely contributing to this being one of the best prison films I've ever seen.

  Well worth the watch for its masterful visuals, but otherwise a disappointingly superficial film.

Following
