This was good! Far from the masterpiece this site makes it seem, but I found it quite enjoyable.
Strengths:
- Acting, mainly from Steve. What a wonderful and exhaustively charismatic dude. The actor captured it so well. The mom and friend were solid, but the mom felt a little too histrionic at times and the friend a little too dull. His character is definitely a memorable one that will stick with me for a while.

I let out a huge scream when I got back into my car after watching this movie. Felt really cathartic.

Took me three different sittings to get through this piece of shit. Garbage acting, horrible cheesy scores, cringey "scare" scenes, random and bizarre editing stylization, and a completely unoriginal plot with its themes thrown in your face visually and through dialogue. Remind me again why this is getting so much praise? Netflix + $$$ = good reviews is my guess.
Though this film has some slight pacing issues, genre vagueness, and plot hole concerns (the phone), I can without a doubt say that I have never watched a film that said so much with so little. The extreme close ups were menacing, and really made me feel like I was a part of that family crisis. A wonderful film that needs to be talked about more.
