One of things I enjoy about Bong Joon-Hos work is how well he’s able to communicate multiple themes. Even if most of them are very on the nose (and mostly anti-capitalist) they are fun to think about and you can find something to relate to and chew on while you watch very strange and captivating sci-fi oddities and violent scenes.

One of the funniest films he’s made in my opinion and amongst the themes I enjoyed the exploration of the…

In terms of “did this accomplish what it set out to do?”, I’m afraid that the answer is as knotted and baffling as a typical Shyamalan twist. Yes, this movie has a great thriller premise, yes this movie utilizes Josh Hartnett well and plays on his charisma and his ability to tap into unsettling psychopathy, yes this movie has some very clever set pieces and moments.

Totally engrossing epic science fiction. See this on the biggest screen with the loudest speakers you can. With all of the setup of the first film, Dune Part Two is given the room to flesh out and explore its characters while bringing in new ones to really set the stage with what’s at stake. Every aspect of the film is firing on all cylinders, and I really think Villenueves Dune films are shaping up to be the finest science fiction or fantasy epic since Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings. What a delight this whole movie was.

Wholly unsettling and full of tension and true dread. This is one of the most unnerving horror films I've ever seen. A genre I'm not a fan of. The performances, cinematography, and soundtrack are all working in tandem to produce something demanding of your attention. The imagery is so plain and matter of fact about what's going on, just like the miniatures Annie creates. I fully understand the hype and I feel like I'm going to have to chew on this one for a while.
