It’s a little too confusing and not immediately satisfying enough to be truly great, but Black Bag looks cool and has a good premise. It’s enjoyable to watch, but I don’t want to read a long essay afterwards to piece everything together. Actually, I kind of like that, but still.

Inconsistent pacing! John Wayne saying “pilgrim” 50 times! Chivalry! A genuine, non-ironic belief in the sanctity of the United States and its rule of law! Overacting! Enormous steaks for every meal! A bumbling, fat marshal! And of course, an unequivocally evil antagonist, with no exploration of an unnecessary origin story!

    Imagine that: an…

This movie deserves more than a stray thought catalog, but that’s what I’m offering:

    - The character Ivan/Vanya might be my least favorite person of all time. I’d rather hang out with Voldemort.

    - Anora is just a beautiful name. Idk why, but I love it.

    - I once pissed off several of my high school friends by declaring Boondocks Saints a terrible movie. Their 16-year-old male brains couldn’t fathom it. But I’m sorry, listening to people neurotically shout the…
