Absolutely massive. Genuinely the most impressive spectacle of a movie ever produced. Such a massive spectacle in fact, that it essentially killed the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Quite dull, really. Compared to Citizen Kane, this is a minnow of a film which consistently fails to capture the audience's attention. It's pacing is also quite strange, no doubt a result of the studio meddling which Orson Welles would later disavow.
