People really got a fucking Sam Raimi directed cowboy film and decided the reception it deserved initially was "mixed"?? I am just baffled by the fact it apparently took years for people to come around on this, given it is instantly a fun and impeccably stylish send-up to the genre of Westerns. Legit might be my favorite in the Genre.

"YOU'RE ALL FREE NOW" - Ricky Oughs

shotwork/setwork that is constantly incredibly bold, people who explode like paper into gore upon being punched really hard, constantly fun choreography, and a dedication to absurdity throughout might make this my favorite translation of manga stylings into live action ever. It just fucking gets it.

A film that deeply understands its influences while masterfully mixing practical and overproduced visuals together to achieve its goals. This paired with the best instances of this style of acting i've seen in years make this an all time great.

It is wild that there are several Looney Tunes films with live action elements and none of them look like this film.

An impeccable style that provides one of my favorite cinematic depictions of memories, one of the few really great more serious roles Carey gave us during his peak, And Kate Winslet nailing a performance that masterfully mixes a more impulsive character with deeper refrained emotional beats that serve as a lot of the backbone of the film lead to this instantly being one of my absolute favorites. Just a strong, incredibly bittersweet film.

I really wish Carey acted his ass off more often instead of playing the same character over and over for more than 30 years.
