Remembered watching this movie back in high-school and yeah it certainly is a movie of its time but it DOES have those Castle trademarks. Even him popping up in the intro and near the end to show off the gimmick of the "Punishment Poll" like some enigmatic entity who controls the fate of a man named after a Yu-Gi-Oh villain gave me a good cackle.
If you like pulp and older horror along with the prospect of leeches being used for horror, than this one's for you.
I knew about the abundance of sequels and subsequent material this spawned, but going to the original and seeing all the splendid use of practical effects and all the inherent cheekiness brings out the utter fun that I love to see in movies like this.
Also insert joke about Bisexual Cowboy and his Gay Bear buddy fighting the Alaskan Bullworm.
The villain doesn't even show up until near the final third and the most memorable things he's done is trying to hug a teenager to death, kill his own GF for no reason, and then get impaled by said teenager.
Kinda neat though. Also one of the better animated movies too.
This movie is important purely because Robert Patrick met John Cena here before Peacemaker and James Gunn kinda prophesied this all but yeah WWE Movies being Halmark Channel Action films with wrestlers and the occasional character actor kinda started here and part of me wishes we still did this.
