to be honest, i didn't really have this film on my radar until quite recently, and seeing as Prime still had it (and after not being able to finish Doctor Sleep and Puppetmaster before they were taken down), I thought I'd just give it a watch, without knowing much beyond that it's a mockumentary style ghost horror movie. and I'm so glad I took the time!
this is such a well-crafted found footage horror film, with no real jumpscares as…
i'm gonna be honest, i watched it mainly for the dancing queen herself, Meryl Streep (Roseanne Barr is a can of worms i'd rather not touch tbh), and let me tell you, she looked stunning in every shot she was in.
the film itself belongs to and deals with female revenge (my favorite genre!) ... and it does a pretty good job! i'm very positively surprised!
this movie could definitely lend itself to a double feature with The First Wives Club (1996)!
Someone on this website actually ranked this movie 195 places behind the movie Boss Baby, so yeah, this is the cursed timeline. That said, pretty much everything in this stop-motion masterpiece by one of the greatest film-makers of our time, Henry Selick, is fantastic and just brilliant. From cinematography to music to character design, the team behind The Nightmare Before Christmas nailed it (get it, coffin).
