One of the things I loved about the original Hellraiser is it was a simple story told perfectly. Hellbound: HellRaiser II was not that.
We quickly move through the Lament and the resurrections and get straight to Hell. Where hell is a maze of identical hallways with lots of blood and sex. Kristy’s evil stop mom is back and her daddy isn’t in hell, but Uncle Frank is! We love Uncle Frank.
Overall the plot seemed to be bigger than…
Decent movie. Good acting. Some funny parts. Good visual effects. But god damn this simple in your face symbolism! I love a movie that has more to say, but the A to A symbolism drove me crazy. A little more creativity could have made this movie a 5 star for me.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I’m not sure if this was the first movie to use testable silicone or not, but then damn well perfected it. What I expected to be a pinhead thriller in hell turned into a love story of a dead goblin and his victim. People will do anything for love. Awwwww.
The ending is pretty awful. We didn’t need to Skelton dragon. We also didn’t need the useless boyfriend in the whole movie. Also, who decided to name them Cenobites? It sounds like Cinna-Bites and makes me want some donut holes.
