The way the sex scenes are lit in this film tells an entire story.

I feel like all David Lynch films are fundamentally about how the world inside your head works, and how it both is and is not real at the same time. And this one is also about that. It only starts to make sense when you stop expecting it to be a linear story.

My cat really liked it! (Not a joke! She was fascinated.)

I feel like this is a Buddhist parable for the rhythms of human existence and the importance of transcending the material world, attachments, and the ego. Those metaphors are pretty easy to see. But even if I’m wrong, this is still a beautiful film to watch. It’s paced perfectly. It doesn’t need dialogue. And it’s just stunning in terms of art!

    I’m rooting for it!

“You know what I see in you?”

    “The girl I married.”

Maybe you’re afraid of what’s inside you.

It’s weird that I keep seeing reviews that say this is a horror movie about nostalgia. No it’s not. Did we watch the same movie? This is a horror movie about what happens when you ignore the thing the nostalgia awoke inside of you: That dream you had when you were young that you never dared to believe could come true. The horror is not the nostalgia for that dream. The horror is…
