Lorenzo's Oil 1992
Cute story, but Nick Nolte's accent is a crime against humanity, Susan Sarandon cranks up the intensity to "Oscar bait" levels of annoying, and the cinematography looks like the director just discovered Dutch angles, pointless slo-mos, and more dissolve cuts than Windows Movie Maker can handle.
But I won't get into the absolute idiotic levels of anti-science because the movie isn't responsible for the Odones being dicks.

The Sixth Sense 1999
I like the story, some of the shots were really awesome, and Toni Collette cosplaying as Leah Remini is a nice touch. Even if the twist loses its punch on rewatch, it's still a well-crafted, moody thriller with Bruce Willis quietly nailing his role... even if he's basically just getting ghosted the whole time.

12 Angry Men 1957
Proof that twelve sweaty dudes arguing in a room can be more intense than most action movies.

The Taking of Deborah Logan 2014
Found footage usually makes me want to throw my TV out the window, but at least this one acknowledges its own limitations (like, you actually can't hear people who aren't mic'd up, who knew?).
Jill Larson kills it, but I refuse to accept a reality where a shaky, half-assed documentary about an Alzheimer's patient gets you a PhD. Academia standards in horror movies are in the gutter...
