Strong performances (especially Fernanda) but otherwise quite a by-the-numbers affair. Don't think the modern time skips added much, and the story whilst heartbreaking and deserving attention is itself quite straight forward. I felt we only got a good glimpse of the family in the first 30mins and the rest was quite surface level.

Honestly this felt insulting to watch. Dougie is a character archetype that has been done to death in other films/media, to stick with that tired skit for the vast majority of the show just shows disdain for the viewer IMO.

Possibly the best looking Disney film yet. The southeast Asian inspiration is great. But apart from that, it is a dull paint-by-numbers heavily formulaic affair.
The overall key themes of the film are entirely undeveloped, it just felt hollow.
