The hardest part of starting this is knowing how it’s going to end, right from the starting shot. It’s a bit melancholic knowing that one can make all the right decisions and steps for betterment, yet still be ultimately confronted by your past as if it’s this inescapable force.

Love me a good slop film. It actually does a good job at keeping suspense and fear without relying on jump-scare tactics. The only thing that really brings it down is how long and drawn out it is. I think it would’ve been better if the “hills fever” developed over the course of a few days, for what is the purpose of it taking place in these grandiose mountainous forests only for 85% of the film to take place in the dark. Take advantage of these stark contrasts of beauty and horrid transformation to create an interesting dynamic.

Paired with these somber orchestral pieces, it had me forgetting where I was and encapsulated me within the…

3rd time is truly the charm. This film is the highlight of the Harry Potter series, delivering on all aspects, and sets itself as the benchmark for its successors due to the remarkable work of director Alfonso Cuarón. The excellency of Cuarón shines in this film, as we see these long drawn out dynamic shots with precise and nuanced details, namely the Leaky Cauldron scene between Harry and Mr. Weasley (one of my favorite shots of all time) and the…
