    Ultra Low

A comic odyssey into the world of low-budget independent filmmaking, Ultra Low is brilliantly brought to life by the incomparable and extremely talented Bianca Poletti (whom I adore dearly), who lets her visual flair and style shine. AJFF 2023 watch #1

America is a small little drama that still manages to be touching and intimate as it traces three people: Eli, a Chicago-based swim instructor forced to come to terms with a troubled past after being informed of his estranged father's passing, leading him to go back to his hometown of Tel Aviv; Yotam, his childhood friend whose interactions with Eli suggest that they might have had more than a friendship before he left (director Ofir Raul…

And, yes, as many reviewers all across the…

    The Dark Knight Rises

    ★★★★

The Dark Knight Rises had the challenge of coming off a very acclaimed and beloved predecessor, so naturally I was just a bit skeptical as to how it would be, but they pulled it off pretty well. Its main concern is to wrap up the Nolanverse Batman trilogy instead of being better than the Dark Knight, and I really like that about it. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie.

If The Dark Knight took apart who Batman was, then…
