Ice Princess 2005
I saw this movie four or five times in theaters when it first came out and it's always left a HUGE mark on me. From the incredible needle drop's to Michelle's performance to Joan Cusak and Kim Cattrall's mother off...it really does have everything.
Also I CRIED.

Lost Highway 1997
One of those movies you can't stop thinking about and picking apart and fall down the rabbit hole of theories after your first watch. Cinematically excellent and intriguing, and I can only imagine more and more fascinating upon repeat viewings.
As my first Lynch film...not bad!

Mike Birbiglia: The Old Man and the Pool 2023
I watched the fragments of this show come to life over multiple Zoom shows in the COVID era, traveled to see it stand on its first legs onstage in Chicago, had the pleasure of seeing it again at home at the Ryman, and finally got to experience it in its full glory live on the Broadway stage. Mike Birbiglia's comedy and wonderful storytelling always have a way of reaching your heart, but this one just feels extra special because I felt like I got to be a part of the journey in making it. And the destination was beautiful and chlorine-scented.
Boston toddlers forever.

The Brutalist 2024
Rolling into the end credits with 80s synth music after this journey was INSANE.
This is a lot to reckon with, especially seeing it on the first day of what is sure to be a very uncertain and scary future for all of us, but especially immigrants. It's beautifully shot and well-acted, and while long, never uninteresting. It needs time to digest. But my thoughts and feelings overall are positive.
