  This movie sneaks up behind you, I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. Ozu’s style is so powerful purely due to restraint. He really set out to rip your heart out with only 50 mm tripod shots. We hide our loneliness through smiles. I think I’m only now coming to see how movies can teach you things about yourself. Remarkable, timeless, and quiet.
