Getting into my Vincent Price phase. The realism of this one will really mess with ya.
BORING.
visual eye candy for the blood-starved among us, but outside of Kirsten Dunst's performance as the battle-tested photo journalist, and a pretty intense final 12min, this film is waste of time for
people who want their visceral violence served with an at least-thought through story.
I do think the movie ended exactly as it should, but without any real context (outside your own internal monologue trying to connect dots between the movie and the current state of American political affairs), you're left wondering if you are even remotely on the right side of things when it's all said and done.
Actually paid attention on the rewatch. Love the emo vibes, the detective film-noir aspects, and the cinematography and acting is pretty on point. The action sequences feel realistic for a young brooding Batman, and I’m a fan of this take on the Riddler. A nice lil gem in the prelude to the James Gunn DC Cinematic Universe.
A heartbreaking and triumphant comedy—an irreverent adventure of wholly believable proportions —this one peaked my interest in more independent filmmaking at a young age, and stars probably my favorite actor of the late 00’s—10’s, Mr. Paul Dano.
