"The Stuff" but starring Porky & Daffy. Also way, way worse than "The Stuff" and way, way, way less fun. I took my 5 year-old because he hasn't seen a lot of Looney Tunes. He hated this and that kid liked "Dog Man."

The narrative through-line to this actually works fairly well. The misstep is the awkward tone. The humor's a little hammy -- with some scenery-chew performances in the supporting cast. The laughs don't often land. There's a madcap energy that doesn't jive -- it alienates. Famously, Stephen King's stories work so well because his characters are so relatable, so real and so human. The folks in this are cartoons. Had they followed the narrative beats with more discipline, and more focus on grounded characters, it could've been great. The structure is there! But they pushed and played with each scene so much it pretty much collapses.

Iconic -- and I love Lugiosi's performance. And some shots. But this is objectively not very good. I want to like it a lot more than I actually like it.

There's a glacial pace to long stretches in order to give you a true fly-on-the-wall feel. The viewer's patience is taxed pretty hard. But it does pay off when the narrative tension turns up: everything feels extremely real and, what would have been a standard noir gunfight in a different movie, plays like a nail-biting nightmare in this one.
