Stylistically great, cinematography, sound and production design being particular highlights. Very interesting premise and for the most part it works, though I feel like the exaggeration works in some areas and not in others. Particularly in the ‘decent to madness’ part is where it lost me, as I feel like that was when it turned exaggeration into absurdity. This changed the tone considerably and very quickly made any commentary it was doing on mental health/women in hollywood seem disingenuous. Made it really hard to care for the characters after that, pretty disappointed with the 3rd act.

Mulholland Drive 2001
Blew me away. Was not expecting the story to go where it did, which made it all the more powerful. Love the directing style and acting which made it feel abnormal and uncomfortable; subtly reminding me I was watching a movie. I think that added a lot considering the type of narrative and significance of the hollywood setting. Will definitely watch more from Lynch and already want to rewatch this to understand it better.
