Both clever and frightening, it’s a wonderfully unique collaboration of creative people making the best out of the lockdowns and thinking outside the box. Ultimately, though, there doesn’t seem to be substance beneath the simple plot. It struck me as just a series of jump scares.
One of the only films that’s better viewed on a laptop than a big TV.
I expected this to be a somewhat serious military film with a supernatural twist, but it wound up being more of a paint-by-numbers action movie. While it is a little silly and convoluted at times, I think this could be the start of an interesting franchise. This first installment felt mostly like setup to a bigger mission, and I appreciate that they took time to give the main characters some dimensional it’s.
It’s a feature-length Red-Bull-fueled acid trip. A truly amazing combination of outrageous story, fun characters, and eye-popping, animation, with incredible attention to detail. I’ve never seen anything like it before and will definitely watch again.
The acting and pacing were solid. Overall, very well made. Even the sound design added a lot of emotional weight. I also liked the incorporation of news footage at the end. It’s amazing to me that the kind of glaring injustice featured in this story is still happening today.
