  Gorgeous Technicolor storybook, filled with wonderful set pieces. 

  Beyond the Irish stereotypes are all the beats of a modern rom-com. Beyond even that are ideas of pride, patriarchy, and compromise. 

  John Wayne is simply excellent; Maureen O’Hara ensorcels.

  This is a magic movie for any kid, but especially a young girl. It’s also a great movie for anyone with the artistic spirit. 

  The moment when Kiki (and we as the audience) see Ursula’s painting hit me like a ton of bricks.
