Nicole Kidman’s delivery of Sorkin’s punchy one-liners is engaging and entertaining from beginning to end. The film’s exploration of Lucille’s unfulfilled desire to feel “at home” adds an important, but just short of poignant, layer of complexity to her character. Finally, the film takes an honest but unresolved look at the relationship between perceived sex appeal; and the norms imposed women, in relation to age, appearance, proclivity or attitude. Great movie all around.
