New Rose Hotel 1998
It’s dripping with nearly as much style a Wong Kar Wai film and acted with a sort of infectious whimsy so that you can’t help but have a good time watching. I wouldn’t say Walken nor Dafoe were at their best but it almost makes you appreciate their idiosyncratic flair all the more. I love cyberpunk but I wouldn’t call this anything more than soft erotic thriller set on the ground floor of a stormy Tokyo backdrop. It’s comfy.
