i can't definitively say if presence was overworked or underdeveloped. idek how to feel ab it. the narrative and performances were overall fine, it's the execution that was wonky.

with what the story was aiming for, some of its creative decisions such as shooting on digital and adding a score were not the move, especially when it's trying to subvert the poltergeist horror element. it was a new and interesting angle, but left much to be desired.

a movie that could've been an email; it was simply way too expository for my liking. would've been an instant 4.5 stars if it had s***cest, alas, bong joon-ho would be put on a hit list, so no bueno.

    may's (2002) girlfriend in a better world.

the eyes of my mother tells a story ab a reluctant victim and her journey through morbid loneliness and harrowing grief. it's got mood and angst aplenty. even tho the story lost a bit of momentum right after the first act and didn't know how best to tie up the story, the emotions it stirred were still strong and significant.
