This dragged in the same places most Dracula adaptations do. Saw it in a theater with live accompaniment which helped a lot.

Phantom of the Paradise 1974
Paul Williams is easily the best part of this. I've not watched much of De Palma, but from the reputation he has, I was surprised at how little of the sleaze from the sleazy record producer was shown on camera. While watching, I could see why this was a flop at the time and why it became a cult classic in the present. If nothing else, the costume and set design make this a fun time even if the actual plot doesn't do much for me.

You could of cut this movie by an hour and it’d be the same amount of confusing but boy was it pretty to look at.
Maybe it translated badly to someone with little to no knowledge of Spain or it’s history, but I doubt it, as the Russian (Georgian) crime moments really felt out of place in an otherwise decent if overwrought drama about intertwining families.
