Dark Passage 1947
pretty gutsy to have a humphrey bogart movie where we don't see his face for the first hour of the movie! that leads to some really awesome camera work though, i really like it. i think once it switches to being third-person the movie loses a bit of that effect and really kinda slows down and settles into being a bit too stock for my liking. lowkey the plot of this is so silly!

Grosse Pointe Blank 1997
a studio comedy that really has that special something, joan said this better than i can but i really love how banal everything in this movie is wrt its sense of humour, there's these passive aggressive snips and general you-had-to-be-there missed jokes that the characters make that comes together in this nonchalantly kinda fascinating way. feels like what i imagine a class reunion would i guess. there's times where this is a reskin of groundhog day in a way i find really funny. music pulls in this are all top notch. im sorry i cant be minnie driver

The Son of Bigfoot 2017
shocked to report it wasn't very good but it was definitely bad in a fun way. there's a raccoon who does drag and his name is "trapper"

House 1977
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This movie fared really well on second watch for me - with an understanding of the characters, plot, and shape of the movie I was able to concentrate more on the themes. It's a really interesting—and interestingly-executed—commentary on traditional societal views on marriage and on dangers of being stuck in the past. It's a film that I can imagine would be fun for children but is at times legitimately horrifying for adults (e.g. sweet's death scene and its thematic implication).…
